Mental Health and Wellbeing

We know life can be difficult, and the external and internal pressures women face can feel insurmountable at times. We want this community to be a safe place to discuss serious topics that impact your mental health and wellbeing, but we have to do it responsibly.

We have firm boundaries around discussing, encouraging, or glamorizing suicide, self harm, or other ways of hurting yourself. We cannot shame others who face these challenges, or pretend they aren’t real problems women face. Mental health is health, and we take that to heart here at Tea.

SUICIDE, SELF-HARM, AND STIGMATIZING MENTAL ILLNESS

We want the Tea community to share, confide, and discuss life’s complexities in a supportive space. But we have one strict rule: we can’t allow content that might trigger someone struggling or recovering from mental health issues. This means you can’t promote, share, or encourage plans for suicide or self harm.

This includes:

  • Showing or explicitly describing suicide or self harm acts
  • Sharing methods or instructions for completing suicide or self harm
  • Claiming a mental illness is not real, is not serious, or is not impactful
  • Generally mocking others who struggle or have struggled with their mental health

CONSEQUENCES

In some cases, we might reach out directly to offer support services that are available to you. In other cases, we may send a gentle reminder to follow the rules. But in the most serious cases, especially if a user is encouraging someone to harm themselves, we will immediately deactivate your account.
