Managing Your Profile and Settings

Managing your profile

Own your profile. Whether you're switching up your city or fixing a login slip-up, here’s how to keep your account dialed in.

CUSTOMIZING YOUR HANDLE AND LOCATION

Your account should move with you. Whether you want a new look or a new view, you can update your details in just a few taps.

 Updating your username (expand)
  • Navigate to your settings via the three line bar at the bottom of the app.
  • Replace your username with your desired new handle.
 Managing your feed location (expand)
  • You can change your feed location temporarily by clicking the filter button to the right of the search bar.

  • To change your account's permanent location, tap the three-line icon at the bottom right and select Account Settings.

  • Edit and save your new location to reset where your primary feed and search results are centered.

  • You can always use the filter button on the feed to see posts in a different city without changing your permanent settings.

SOLVING LOCATION SEARCH ISSUES

If the app isn't finding your area, it usually comes down to how the address is entered. We rely on specific data to keep the 100-mile radius accurate.

Tips for finding your city (expand)
  • Tea currently only supports city addresses and does not recognize township addresses.

  • If you live in a township, select the closest major city and the app will work perfectly for your area.

  • Always type out the full "City, State" rather than just the city name to avoid alphabetical sorting issues.

  • Including the state ensures you don't get matched with a city of the same name in a different part of the country.

  • If you use abbreviations like "St" for Street, make sure to add a period so it reads as "St." for the search to function.

DELETING YOUR ACCOUNT

We value your presence in the community, but we also believe you should have the final say over your profile. If you decide to move on, using the in-app deletion tool ensures your information is no longer visible to the community and is cleared from your active profile.

How to properly remove yourself from Tea (expand)
  • To delete your account, tap the three-line icon at the bottom right and select "Account."

  • Click the "Delete Account" button to deactivate your profile and remove your posts and comments from public view.

  • Simply uninstalling the app from your phone does not trigger the deletion of your content or your profile from the platform.

  • While we process your request to remove your data from our active systems, some information may remain in our secure backups for a limited period as required by our standard data retention policies.

  • Deleting your account does not cancel your paid subscription; you must handle that separately through your app store settings to stop future charges.

MULTIPLE ACCOUNT ISSUES

If you find yourself in an empty account with no history, you likely accidentally created a duplicate profile by using the wrong login button. Here is how to get your original account back.

Steps to fix unintentional multiple accounts (expand)
  • Tap the three-line icon at the bottom right of the navigation bar and click Logout at the bottom of the list.

  • When the login screen appears, try the other login option than the one you just used.

  • Once logged in, go to Account Settings and click "My Posts" to see if your history is there.

  • If you see your old posts, you are back in your original account.

  • If you still don't see your posts, log out again and try the alternative login method once more before reaching out to support.
